What is the difference between parameters for gas detection ppm and lel ?when to use ppm and when to use lel? - lel gas detector

While measuring the concentration of the gas used in all gas detectors. What are the things that are observed? What is the difference between ppm and lel. when measuring ppm LEL and where to use them?

Ppm = parts per million.
LEL = Lower Explosive Limit level.

The LEL measurement shall be used only for the suspect to explosive gas (such as propane, for example). For each type of mixture of explosive gases in the air when it is at a certain concentration, it is explosive, but below this concentration can not be used. Everyone has a different explosive gas-LEL.

Ppm are measured when the gas is toxic.
